ACADEMY PLASTIC HOBBY MODEL KIT 1/35 M4A2 SHERMAN RUSSIAN ARMY TANK

The M4A2 Sherman was similar to the M4, with welded hull and cast turret, but was powered with twin GM 6-71 diesel engines. This was the only diesel engine version of the Sherman tank to see service in large numbers. Having a diesel engine, the M4A2 version's engine deck and backend is noticeably different from all other Shermans. The early production model had the 75mm gun M3 in the M34 gun mount and vision slots in the front armor plate. The gun mount was later replaced by M34A1 gun mount, which featured a direct telescope. Some versions were armed with 76mm gun. In later productions, the return rollers were moved to the rear of the bogie mount and the suspension was of the horizontal volute spring type. The M4A2 saw action in the European and Pacific theaters, and was mainly used by the US Marines and lend lease to the Soviet Union, British, and Free French. Over 8000 M4A2 were produced during the middle of World War II.

ACADEMY PLASTIC HOBBY MODEL KIT 1/35 M3 STUART "HONEY"

The British named the M3 "General Stuart" upon receipt of the tank under the Lend-Lease program jn June of 1941. The tank's ability to "shoot and scoot" we well as keeping the crew safe from small arms fire, earned an affectionate nicknamed of "Honey" by its operators. The British cavairy men liked this tank since it can travel 10 to 20 mph faster than their own or enemy tanks, and for its ease of maintenance. The M3s were designed to replace the outdated M2. The M3 incorporated a thicker armor, lengthened hull, and a trailer idler wheel to act as another road wheel to decrease groood pressure and improve weight distribution. The M3 turret had three pistol ports and shottened recoiI mechanism. It was also equipped with a 37mm M6 gun, which was adequate early In the war, but by 1942. the German counterparts far surpassed the range of the M3. The narrow width of the M3 could not accommodate a Iarget gun. The M3Al was fitted with a Westinghouse gyrostabilizer, a turret basket
and an Oil Gear hydraulic traverse mechanism, but lacked a turret cupola. The earlier version of the M3A1, the Stuart III, was powered by Continental W-97O-9A 7 cylinder radial gas 250 hp engine but by mid 1941, the Stuart IV came off the production lines with Guiberson T-1020 air cooled radial diesel engine.

ACADEMY PLASTIC HOBBY MODEL KIT 1/35 BRITISH TANK DESTROYER ACHILLES

In 1942, to meet the urgent demand for a more powarful tank destroyer U.S. Army put the M10 series in production. The M4A2 medium hull was used with a semi-open turret. To minimize weight the armor was reduced and the top of the hull shortened. Due to the thin armor protection and the open turret configuration, the M10 was vulnerable to enemy fire. Despite the weakness, the M10 proved to be a strong asset to the Allied forces because of its speed and agility. The Achilles, powered by. GM 6046 12 cylinder, twin diesel inline engine had a crow of five and weighed 32 tons. The Achilles version, developed while under the Lend-Lease to the British, featured a British 17 pound Mark V to replace the American 3" gun, and a direct sighting telescope in the gun shield on the left side. The 17-pound gun carried 50 rounds of ammunition and stored 6 rounds in ready racks in the turret and the remainder in the hull sponsons. Two versions of the Achilles were produced the earlier and less common "lc", fitted with the 17-pound gun, and the "llc", fitted with the final production turret with revised counterweights. Fittings for the extra armor plate was not on the latter version.

The IDF(Israeli Defence Force) was the world's largest user of Sherman tanks. The first Sherman that entered service in the IDF was an M4A1 and A2 models which was served British Army during World War II. After the independence War in 1948, more Shermans were purchased from many countries. In 1945, France delivered hundred of M4A1s fitted with VVSS(Vertical Volute Spring Suspension) and long Barreled 76.2mm guns. And some tanks equipped newly E8 HVSS(Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension). They were renamed M1 Super Sherman by IDF. Upgraded M50 Super Shermans were developed in the 1960s. M50 has French 75mm CN75-50 Tank gun in modified turret and many other improvements. M50 Super Shermans were used for many years and saw combat on several occasions. To keep up with improved Soviet tanks supplied to the various Arab armies, Israel fielded the ultimate Sherman tank know as the M51 Super Sherman(I-Sherman). Armed with a French-designed 105mm CN105-F1 56 gun. The Sherman model chosen for this conversion was the cast hulls of M4A1. They were stripped back to their hulls, fitted with a Cummins 460 hp diesel engine, E8 HVSS suspension and modified steering, transmission and exhaust, wider tracks and a new turret mantlet and turret bustle. Other improvements included fitting a white light/infra-red searchlight over the main gun and two smoke-dischargers eigher side of the turret. ACADEMY PLASTIC HOBBY MODEL KIT 1/35 M151A2 TOW MISSILE LAUNCHER

In 1951, the Ford Motor Company was given a contract a MUTT(Military Utility Tactical Truck) to replace the WWII era MB Jeep and it's descendant of the M38. This new 1/4 ton 4WD vehicle would introduce new technologies such as a Uni-body Chassis and all wheel independent suspension system to the heep type vehicle. In 1960, the first production contract was signed to produce over 10,000 units, and it would be used by whole U.S army and many other foreign military forces. The production of the M151 was not continued for a long time. It is because M151 had a serious problem with the suspension that made the M151 unstable and give a possibility to roll-over in the tight cornering situation. In order to provide the infantry with heavier fire-power,  US and many other countries mounted recoilless rifle and missile system in the small trucks and APCs. In the 1960's, Hughes Aircraft Company developed the BGM-77A or TOW(Tube launched, Optically tracked, Wire guided) missile system to replace earlier generation weapons, This system was designed as a Heavy Anti-Tank Weapon to engage targets at range from 62m to 3700m. This Heavy Anti-Tank Weapon doubled the fire-power of the M40A2 106mm recoilless rifle. The mounting system of the M232E1 1/4 ton consisted of the launcher and M220 Optical Tracking System mounted on a fixed pedestal with a control box secured to the floor next to it. The M151 also carried two spare missiles and a tripod mount that allowed the launcher and tracking system to be deployed at some distant from the vehicle.

ACADEMY PLASTIC HOBBY MODEL KIT 1/35 U.S Medium Tank M3 LEE #13206

The M3 Lee was the first modern American medium tank employed in combat in World War II. it saw action with the British in North Africa as early as 1941 & the South pacific theater along with the M4 Sharman tank. The M3 was the result of crisis management that was prevalent immediately following the fall of France. No tank in history ever went from design to production faster than the M3. As furnished to the British under the lend-lease program, this first model of the M3 medium tank was nicknamed the General Lee by the British.
This 100% new tooling, 1/35 scale M3 Lee " Rivet Hull" has certainly been worth the wait! Academy really "nailed" this magnificent war machine. It incorporates the early type Vertical Volute Spring Suspension (VVSS) and each individual rivet that's studded along the entire body is faithfully reproduced. The shape of the M3's unique polygonal body & cast turret is perfectly made, as is the exquisitely detailed interior of the turret.
Modelers have a choice of assembling the long barrel 75mm gun or the short barrel. Beautifully molded flexible track and crisp, accurate decals add to the impressiveness of detail that Academy brings to this new release.
